Skirts

Our fully circular skirts with elasticated waistbands are available in small, medium, large and extra-large to comfortably fit most sizes. We try to keep a good selection in stock for prompt despatch. However, for a modest premium we can easily make to your size specification.

Our range of fabrics includes musical note prints, traditional 50's style polka-dots and a mixture of others from flowers to flames! We sometimes even have holographic or metallic foils to really dazzle on the dance floor. If you'd like to receive some fabric swatches please send a stamped addressed envelope (large letter stamp) to the address on Contact Us page.

Standard Sizes

25" long SMALL skirt
fits 23" to 30" waist and up to 38" hips
25" long MEDIUM skirt
fits 28" to 36" waist and up to 43" hips
27" long MEDIUM skirt
fits 28" to 36" waist and up to 43" hips
27" long LARGE skirt
fits 33" to 41" waist and up to 49" hips
30" long EXTRA LARGE
fits 37" to 46" waist and up to 53" hips

Skirt length is measured from the top of waistband to the bottom of the hem. Petticoats tend to sit just below the skirt waistband so a 23" petticoat suits a 25" skirt and a 25" petticoat suits a 27" skirt. We quote maximum hip sizes as you need to be able to get into the skirt!

Skirt Construction

All skirts have an elastic waistband approximately 1.5" (4cm) deep. This can be in black, white or red to suit the fabric. Please note that the white and red elastic is 'tighter' so will not fit as broad a range of sizes as the black. Most hems are rolled edge finished and stitched in either the same colour as the waistband or the main colour of the fabric.

Shrinkage

Some cotton fabrics may shrink a little during their first wash. We test wash a sample of each new roll of fabric and in general, IF we find shrinkage, it's usually between 1% and 3%. To put this into perspective, a 25" skirt with 2% shrinkage will become just under half an inch shorter after the first wash. If this is important to you, please ask about the fabrics you have in mind BEFORE you decide to buy.

Made-to-order

We can make skirts in almost any size, including children. For skirt lengths 15" to 30" simply add £5 to the length of the skirt as a guide price.
